Why should I have coaching?
Mountain bike coaching is one of the best ways to get more out of the sport you love. Our mountain bike courses are tailored to your needs and designed to progress your riding in a logical way.
No matter your ability or experience in mountain biking, our lessons are planned around you, with video analysis and feedback from our British Cycling qualified coaches, to support your development.
We run group coaching sessions throughout the year, covering everything from the core skills, to jumps, drops and downhill-specific courses. We also run 1:1 sessions, which can run as a one-off lesson or a series of progressive sessions.
Whatever the reason and whatever level you currently are at, we guarantee we can help!
We have two routes for our coaching
Want your time to be spent focusing on exactly what you need and what you want to achieve? Then the 1:1 coaching is for you. These are three hours in duration giving ample time to really hone down those skills. If you decide to book a series of sessions, then it’s recommended that you have a couple of weeks between each one for you to consolidate your learning.
What bike shall I bring?
Bring whatever bike you mainly ride on – be it the e-bike, hardtail, enduro or DH bike. That way you learn on the bike that you want to learn on!
What to expect?
Our British Cycling qualified MTB coach will discuss with you what you want to achieve in mountain biking, it may be wanting to go faster, tackling a specific trail at the Forest of Dean or developing a specific technique. He/She will then work with you and use video analysis to assist you with your learning. At the end of the session, you will be given some ‘homework’ to consolidate
From beginner level right thought to focusing on DH race speed and skill. Our coaching pathway covers all aspects of your mountain biking journey! Apart from the beginner course (which is three hours), they are day courses with an hour off for lunch. The sessions are run as small groups with a maximum of 6 riders to 1 coach.
What bike should I bring?
Bring whatever bike you mainly ride on – be it the e-bike, hardtail, enduro or DH bike. That way you learn on the bike that you want to learn on! If you do bring an e-bike, just be aware that others may be on a regular bike, so there will be no super speedy climbing!
What to expect?
Each session starts with introductions, expectations and a bike check before we head off to do some MTB skills coaching. The emphasis is on skill development and will be based around various areas around Sallowvallets These areas are all close together, so fitness is not as important. We break for lunch (you can either bring your own or sample some of Pedalabikeaway’s lovely café food).
The afternoon session continues with skill development, but you will also start to consolidate the learning from the morning session. Video analysis will be used, and this is available for you to view when you get home too!
These group courses are highly regarded, and many of our customers have progressed their way through our coaching pathway!
