Description
Wye Valley Level 2: Border control
25km – 30 km in distance
700m – 800m of descending
Trail centre grade: Upper Blue, easy Red
A classic Mtb loop starts off calm with a beautiful loop up and around the village of Newlands, England, where the cathedral of the Forest can be viewed and the award winning Ostrich pub. The trip then moves onto a classic descent, no gap jumps but lots of double track descending which is designed to warm up the group rather than break them.
Returning back to Redbrook allows the group to refuel at the local shop and then head up to the Kymin after the 200m descent we head straight back down onto the outskirts of Monmouth.
Lunch is provided at a local Welsh village pub and we meet all dietary needs. After lunch we face the largest climb of the day which take us high up above the the valley floor, at this point the trip traverses along the ridge line taking in some small descents, but not loosing to push height. The final push, the final climb but this leads to the final breath taking descent straight back to the multi use old railway line which runs along the River Wye.
Wye Valley Level 3: Enduro Valley
35km – 45km in distance
1000m – 1200m of descending
Trail centre grade: Red – off piste trails
A new age of mountain biking has been born, Enduro. A mix of cross country riding and down hill trails, this trip hits the nail on the head; sustain climbs and hard descents.
The trip leaves Redbrook and heads down stream towards the historic village of White brook, our guides pick up a variety of off piste local trails, ancient bridleways and multi use tracks. The trip has sustained climbs and some world class descents, the majority of the descents are extreme and would be categorised as ‘off piste’ trails at the local trail centre.
The descents do not any gap jumps or drops that can’t be rolled, the route has been signed off by both Forestry England (FE) and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) The guides leading the trip will be British Cycling Level 3 guides demonstrating that are the top of their game.
